Carry On My Wayward Son: The Supernatural Finale

Posted on 16 July 2010 by thisgirltv

Spoilers!

At a birthday party I recently went to, I went outside with the smokers, though I don’t smoke, and let the conversation wash over me. Suddenly a word caught my ear. Supernatural. I perk up and listen to the conversation and I hear something that I did not even think about and even now, months after the show’s finale, I still do not know if I can get behind the thought.

Chuck was God.

I did wonder why, at the end, Chuck in his formal tuxedo shirt gloating over his ending would suddenly disappear into thin air. It never occurred to me that he was EFFING GOD!

Recap:

After getting all of the rings and finally convincing Dean to agree, Sam & Dean, with the very human Castiel and Bobby in tow, head to Detroit to give Sam’s body to Satan so that Sam can force him to go back to his cage. Things, however, don’t go as planned as Satan takes an early lead on controlling the body.

Dean decided he’s going to be with Sammy, whether Sam can succeed in jumping into the pit or whether Michael rips him to shreds. He would rather be there in the end rather than give up and see how the world fares later.

All the while, there is a rolling commentary about the Impala, the one character that we’ve seen get it as bad as the brothers and still keep on trucking. Dean places a call to Chuck and finds out where the final fight is going down. Pulling up on the two angel brothers in the two Winchester brothers bodies about to go to fisticuffs over the fate of the world, he cause Satan to get angry. Castiel molotov’s Michael with Holy Fire and Satan pops him like a water balloon. When he starts to beat on Dean, Bobby shoots him. Satan snaps Bobby’s neck with the twist of his hand, then proceeds to beat the shit out of Dean. Suddenly, the glint of light from the Impala catches in Sam’s eye and every moment of the two in that car and other moments of their lives (from the past 5 seasons of the show) plays in rapid succession. When it is over, Sam has control of his own body.

Sam takes out the rings and tosses them on the ground, saying the magic words. Just as he’s about to jump in Adam/Angel Michael  shows up to stop him. They both fall in together. Castiel returns, fixing the beating Satan gave Dean and bringing Bobby back to life. Alas, he is not God and has to step in to slow the chaos that is heaven since Michael won’t be there. Dean goes back to Lisa, Chuck “ends” his book and disappears and we see Dean domesticated, but the final image of the episode is Sam under a flickered out street light, watching the house.

Thoughts:

What the hell is gonna happen next???

To those who follow television news, many of us were sure that Supernatural would end with Season 5. Kripke had written the show to go five seasons total, hoping the viewers would keep this baby going.

Surprise, surprise, we want a 6th season. Or do we?

I loved this season of Supernatural because it was going towards a conclusion. It knew where it wanted to go and how it was going to get there. If you compare it to a show like Lost, you can see how the Supernatural writers were really able to focus all of its legend and everything into the end game. Lost shows poorly against a show like Supernatural in that respect. Anticipating the end of the Winchester Brothers, you can see how the show would have ended if there wasn’t another season.

My speculation is that the brothers are going to go in search of their humanity. I certainly hope we continue to see Mischa Collins as Castiel, although I’m certain Castiel showing up will be a bad thing. I’m excited about a 6th season, but I hope this extra season doesn’t cause Supernatural to turn into another Lost.

Now, on this business about Chuck the prophet/writer being God. What the hell, man? If Kripke wanted us to really think he was God, and to take that assumption all the way back to the beginning, then I’m going to have to agree with Dean and Satan. God is an asshole. Now it’s possible that the Chuck character was God and didn’t know it, but if he disappears like that and there was never a Chuck, that means God very much knew what he was doing and all the things he caused to happen was caused by God and is on God. I think the negative ramifications of all of that, especially considering the concept of family that the show has wanted to follow, would be detrimental to the show as a whole. No, Kripke, show me a better explanation for where Chuck went and I will show you a show well done.

Also, when is Papa Winchester coming back??? This is a show about the supernatural. I wanna see some Jeffrey Dean Morgan!!!

What do you think? Am I wrong about the negative ramifications for the show if Chuck is God? Do you believe Chuck was God? If not, what or who was he? Did you love this show as much as I did? Let me know in the comments!

Worst Season Yet: 8 Shows We Hate Watching This Season

Posted on 03 May 2010 by thisgirltv

There are several shows that have had their best seasons yet this season. We’ve talked about those shows. The flip side, however, is that there are a few shows that are having their worst season. Some we still watch (or watched) and some we have decided to just let go. Here are the shows we think should reassess during the summer hiatus (or whichever hiatus they went on…)

House – Dull, dull, dull. Without the delicious thrill of watching House walk the edge of breakdown, our Sherlock Holmes is ridiculously boring. One of the best parts of House has been watching him spar with Wilson and while we do get more of that, the edge that was once part of  it feels like an already lost battle. House has lost because he can’t win. His drugs don’t work, his leg doesn’t work and without him, his team can barely work. I really did like his interaction with Wilson’s ex-wife, Sam (played by Cynthia Watros – who is very convincing). She seems so sweet, but there is an edge there, the first bit of edge we’ve seen since Chase killed James Earl Jones.

Murderer.

Anyway, the part of me that is a nice person doesn’t want the character of House to put himself in mortal danger, but the drama-loving tv watcher in me wants to see him walk that fine line again, hoping his intelligence will keep him from tumbling over.

24 – I have not watched every episode from this season, but what I did see was dreckitude. And yes, I’m using a word I learned on America’s Next Top Model. Deal with it. Coming off of last season, which started with an awesome made for television movie, I expected the writing to start getting better. They even got more terrific talent involved (love Katee Sackhoff), but it does not seem to have helped. People are still whiney and acting as if they don’t have the ability to do the jobs they are paid to do. Oh well, espionage and being double agents can make you look like a jerk.

Dexter – Shouldn’t it be good television to finally watch a character get the father-figure he always wanted before discovering he’s not all he should be and then having to make the decision to put him out of his misery. Most people would blanch at the thought of watching a son kill his father (or father figure), but on a show like Dexter, that’s just what we expect. As Dexter deals with the fact that he was the cause of his father’s death, is reeling, still, from having killed his brother, Dexter meets the “father” of his dreams in serial killer Arthur Mitchell, who has been killing for a very long time and who also has a family. Dream come true for the character, but is less than exciting for us. Season 3 was also a bit dull, especially after the excitement that was the Bay Harbour Butcher (Doakes is missed) in Season 2, but while I wanted to watch every episode of the previous seasons when they aired, I found myself letting two or three go buy before finally settling down to watch. Here’s hoping the aftermath of this season’s shocking ending will lead to some really dynamic television.

10 Things I Hate About You – Granted, though we are not dealing with a separate season, the writing is a lot less dynamic. While the Chastity character is a little less annoying, the individual storyline are showing signs of weakness. Cat is no longer convincing as the driven feminist. Bianca’s shallowness is dull and the times she tries to step out of it does not feel liberating. Cameron’s heartbreak also feels artificial, his sidekick friend is no longer needed, and the edge that was Patrick Verona has softened now that they are semi-dating or whatever. And poor Mandella, who continues to suffer in silence in a wasted friendship with Cat, is also slightly depressing in the new woman she has found for herself. Well, I hope she’s happy anyway. Just 4 episodes into the second half and I’m just not feeling the show like I did when it premiered.  Larry Miller is still fabulous as the father and Joey is much more likable, but in the end, it hasn’t even been funny enough to justify continued watching.

Heroes – GACK! I’m still watching this? Yes, I am. I hate myself for it. I can’t leave a storyline unfinished and I do so love Hiro. But this season was pretty much the suckiest season ever.

The Office – There have been some very good moments for this show, but, unlike the shows on the cusp of being either good or bad, this has had too many boring moments. The wedding and birth was amazing. Watching Andy woo Erin has also been amazing. But the takeover, the revamp, the plotting against Jim as manager, the revival of Monkey and Dwight… boring. There wasn’t enough sass in it and the uncomfortable things have been toned way down. Also, not enough Kelley.

Smallville – Clark Kent, you are not Batman.

True Blood – The Maryanne storyline dragged on much too long. Knowing that there is something that could kill vampires opens it up for other supernatural beings that can handle the “outed” creatures.  While the exciting, nail-biter of a season ender comes as a great relief compared to the rest of the season, if Bill is locked away all next season, True Blood may find itself on this list again.

What do you think? Which shows are having their worst season yet? Did we get these right, or are we being short sighted? Let us know!

Supernatural is Number One

Posted on 29 April 2010 by thisgirltv

Just so you know what you’re missing…

This is a really good, really chilling synopsis in video and words of this past season of Supernatural. God, I love this show. (thanks @SupportSPN for the link!)

Also, if you want a sneak peak at tonight’s Supernatural, here we have it. Crowley (played with panache by his supreme bad-guy-ness Mark Sheppard) is a demon who has a bone to pick with Papa Satan. Dang, all kinds of folks got daddy issues.

There have been some good episodes these last few weeks. As we get closer to the end of Season 5, here’s a fond look back at scenes that stick out in our minds.

Zechariah was an asshole.

Turn the volume up when Sammie is leaving a message for Castiel.

I wish they got to the part where he cried. That was really funny.

These are some good moments packaged for your convenience.

Mainly because I love Dean and Cas.

There are so many moments from this year’s Supernatural that stand out. What are your favourite Supernatural moments? How do you think the end of this season is going to go down? How do you think next season will play out? Let me know in the comments.

Best Season Yet: Top 3

Posted on 29 April 2010 by thisgirltv

The Top 3. There something about being in the top. These shows are not necessarily the best shows on television, but after having a season or two playing, they’ve decided this is the year to bring their A-game. Shows like Modern Family, The Good Wife, and Treme, shows that I think are really good this year, have to get to their second season and be better than the first. If the writers make that happen next year for some of these freshmen shows, I will be a happy tv camper. The Top 3:

3. Parks & Recreation – The biggest turnaround of any comedy has been Parks and Recreation. It started out as a mildly funny comedy about an awkward deputy director with a crazy, assorted cast and has become a complex, wildly hilarious show about an deputy director of the parks department who wants everything too much. This character, Leslie Knope, played with precision by Amy Poehler, started out as a Michael Scott-esque screw up, but became her own entity in the 2nd season. The other characters became less shallow as well, and the depth that has been added to them, especially Ron MF Swanson, has made their characters more believable, more likeable, and much, much more funny. The antics of Aziz Ansari’s Tom Haverford as he tries so desperately to be cool. The excessively put down Jerry, the forever bored April, who has a crush on Andy, who is in love with Ann who is dating Mark – that’s a square you don’t want to be a part of! If you’re watching the show, you know what I mean. If you’re not, you’re missing out. Every episode has had an element that was so crazy, so funny, that I walk away wondering how the writers can live with themselves. They are killing me. To be serious for a moment, though, if I wrote a comedy, Parks and Recreation is where I aspire to be. Here’s hoping that next season sees an increase in the comedy and the writing stays just as big as it is now.

2. Chuck – I caught up on Chuck a few days before Season 3 aired. By the end of my marathon viewing, I was amazed that I had not been watching this show live. Because House had been my number one wife on Monday nights, I was reluctant to trade a show that had, for 5 seasons, been so great to a show that was growing in spectacular. I was fortunate because I was able to watch a number of House episodes before Chuck aired in January. However, it only took about three episodes before I realized that Chuck was turning out way better than House this season. So I switched. I DVR House and I watch Chuck live. It has revolutionized my Mondays. I have not had any qualms about the way the story followed the thwarted love between Sarah and Chuck. I loved how they used those storylines to create a chilling episode that forced Chuck to choose between his squeamishness in using deadly force and his love of Sarah. Love won. Love and Subway. Also, Morgan and Casey are awesome and I look forward to watching them together.  (squeal!) I’m so excited!

1. Supernatural – Oh my word, this show, this season, has been awesome. I’m not saying it’s perfect, but it’s done something good with each storyline that pushes the story forward in a foreseeable way. Every story (even if you don’t like how they went from shooting Satan in the head to chasing after wraiths and little boys possessing their bodies) has been excellent, touching on the heart of this season’s arc, the coming Apocalypse, as well as dealing with the issues of trust, faith, respect, love, and everything else that comes up when you feel betrayed by your family.  Also, Mischa Collins has become my favourite non-brother character and I hope he gets his own show. He needs to walk the earth and discover his humanity in his fallen condition, or something. Very fish out of water, don’t you think? Anyway, Kripke et. al did an incredible job of writing this season and the way they connected everything they’ve written in previous seasons in so tight a culmination is Herculean. I can’t wait for Season 6!

There are other shows that have aired. I hear Breaking Bad is really good this season. People are still raving about Mad Men and Sons of Anarchy I also heard was really good. Those are shows I just can’t keep up with if I’m watching a full slate of show now. But they are on my summer list for catching up. So what about you. If you’re watching a show that deserves to be mentioned, put it in the comments!

Breakfast Bites: Supernatural – Swap Meat

Posted on 29 January 2010 by thisgirltv

Swap Meat is just the latest episode in the Supernatural saga that shows you just why you should be watching this show. (Spoilers ahead)

The ep starts out with Sammie in a bar acting extremely weird. Extremely. Regular viewers know something is wrong. When it is revealed who is actually in Sam’s body, it makes sense. We are taken to a few days before where we find out what the guys are hunting (a witch) and we meet the boy who eventually switches with Sam.

As the story unfolds, I’m expecting this to be a slightly humorous “boy in a man’s body” or “Freaky Friday” story, but it turns out, there is a bounty on Dean’s head and the swap was a deliberate way for the kids to get the reward from killing Sam.

But, as we Supernatural faithfuls know, a deal with a demon is no deal at all. The possibility of the kid giving Sam’s body to the Devil was there and we realize that it wouldn’t take much for something like this to put all the power in Satan’s hand. I do think they could have done a little more at the kid’s house with the transplanted Sam. I also think it took Dean a little too long to figure out that it wasn’t Sammie in Sammie’s body. Excellent story otherwise, especially the witchy kids twist.

I like these kinds of stories in Supernatural because it shows us just how much we know the characters. I also like that it still touched on the mythology of the current season and didn’t just become the formulaic comedic body swap story. This story also prepares you for next week’s episode, where the demons try to kill the parents before they give birth to the sons. (Wonder why it’s taken them so long to come up with that one???)

Breakfast Bites: Supernatural – The Real Ghostbusters & Abandon All Hope…

Posted on 23 November 2009 by thisgirltv

SUPERRNATURAL-CON!!! I want to go to that! Especially if Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are there.
supernatural-brothers
It’s funny, but I should have known what was going on when I saw the other Impalas in the parking lot. The Jackets, the “batman voices”, the LARPing, even the ghost story was awesome. With our natural inclination for wanting to think the best of children, I think we forget how truly awful kids can be. And I’m not saying that because I was horribly picked on when I was in school or because kids are so bad I don’t want any of my own, but because little kids can truly be some awful mutherfrakkers. All that aside, I think gaining a little outside perspective and realizing that Sam does love him and that this fact is stronger than all the crap they are going through was a nice perspective, especially considering what comes next… My personal favourite line from this episode: “Oh my god! Supernatural makes digging graves seem so easy!”

“Abandon All Hope…”
In the last episode, Sam finds out that Bela, the thief that stole the Colt, didn’t give it to Lilith, but to Crowley. Crowley wants Lucifer dead because, as an Angel, Lucifer can’t find anything to like about the demons, or “servants”, he created. At least, that’s Crowley’s working definition of the end of the world. So the brothers go to Carthage… Missouri to kick some Satan ass. Uh, things don’t go quite as planned. It is only the 10th episode, after all.

Goddamnit Jo and Ellen! I shed real tears for characters who, in the grand scheme of things, I’ve only seen a few times. Great writing, Supernatural crew.

How are you guys feeling about this season of Supernatural? What’s been your favourite so far?

Supernatural: Sympathy for the Devil

Posted on 14 September 2009 by thisgirltv

I think it’s about time to start watching Supernatural in the daytime again.

Last Thursday’s episode of Supernatural, “Sympathy for the Devil”, was nothing short of fantastic. Kudos to the writers, directors, editors and actors who put this together. I am still in awe and as such, should warn you that spoilers are imminent. Do not continue reading if you have not watched the episode, but if you’ve seen it, please leave comments. I love going on and on about tv shows.
supernatural-brothers
The first episode of Supernatural finds us right back in that room where the power of Satan has compelled the door to close, locking the Winchester siblings in. Suddenly, in a flash of light, Sam and Dean are out of the room and on a plane that is about to crash. One more time for the home team and the brothers fair find themselves standing on solid earth with the true knowledge that Armageddon is at their door.

Now, I always thought that when Satan escaped and Armageddon started that the whole world would be bathed fire as punishment for his confinement. Not so. It’s still an ordinary day and apparently, Satan is way more patient than the angels, who are really beginning to get on my nerves. Cass is dead, head dick of an Angel is requiring Dean’s service and the brothers are trying to figure out how they’re going to stave off both the bothersome angels and the coming horde of demons whose daddy has just come back into town. I wonder what kind of presents he got them…
SUPERNATURAL
After routing the angels back to heaven with the blood on the wall spell that Cass did last season to help Dean out of doorless Angel heaven, Dean and Sam travel to see if they can find out what’s going on. There direction changes when they get a message from Chuck, the prophet, via Becky (aka SamLicker81 from morethanbrothers.com) that tells them to find the Sword of Michael which will help them defeat Satan. They go to Bobby for help. Bobby tells Sam that when they are done defeating Satan, forget his number. Sam, in a pretty boy huff, leaves to see what he can find. Dean remembers something from his dad’s book (which we haven’t seen in some time) and gets the information to where the sword rests. It turns out that “Bobby” has really been a demon possessed Bobby the whole time and starts to beat the crap out of Dean before Meg comes to kill him. Sam returns and takes his share of ass kicking until Bobby somehow awakens and stabs himself, evacuating the demon. Dean goes after the others, though Meg escapes. The brothers fair rush Bobby to the hospital then set out to find the sword of Michael at their dad’s storage unit.
castiel-on-supernatural_264x402
And there the angels wait because the sword of Michael isn’t an object, it’s a person, the person the Angel Michael is to possess. And apparently, that body belongs to Dean Winchester. There is no way Dean is going to become the meat suit to anybody so the angels make it rough. Stomach cancer for Dean, no lungs for Sam, Bobby will never walk again… unless you capitulate. Suddenly, in a flash of light is Cass, who everyone thought was dead. But he isn’t. (And I certainly am glad to see Cass again) Cass says something along the line of “How do you think these boys escaped and I’m still alive? That’s something Zachariah doesn’t want to consider. Cass makes the son of a bitch fix the guys then banishes him to heaven (after stabbing a couple of them with the angel banishing knife, which is apparently the brother of the demon banishing knife). Cass carves something into the brothers’ ribs to keep the angels and demons from finding them and vanishes before we can get any answers.

Meanwhile, Lucifer has been circling this poor sap named Nick who lost his wife and little baby to a home invasion murder. With angry thoughts toward God and Lucifer taking the form of his lost wife, convinces Nick to be the receptacle for Satan.

And this was the ingenious part of the episode. I know that the writers get a lot of flack for being women bashers (literally), and I couldn’t see how the Satan we have come to know and fear would convince the human to let himself be possessed. Taking the thought that first leads people away from God, that he doesn’t care about us because if he did, we wouldn’t suffer the way we do, this Lucifer cunningly convinces Nick that although he wouldn’t get his wife and child back, he would get something almost as good. Revenge against God. This episode has raised the bar of excellence and my own expectations for returning shows.
supernatural1
And in the end, when Dean tells Sam that he doesn’t trust him, isn’t sure he’ll ever trust him again, you know that it will be a long, long road for the Brothers Winchester.

Network Television Series Premieres: What Show Will Be the Biggest Fall Fail

Posted on 13 September 2009 by thisgirltv

Every year I do this in some form or another. I go through all the clips and interviews for upcoming shows that are airing for the first time and I decide, based solely on those clips, whether or not the show will get a season 2 pick-up. I did it last year here and I always give each show 3 episodes to prove me right (though every now and then, I can be wrong).

My score from last year:
Total: 19 shows with actual comments
Correct:10
Incorrect:9
Percentage:53% correct

Not bad. If it hadn’t been for Fox and the CW, I would have lost out big! Anyway, you can play along at home, just add your thoughts to the comments.
networklogos

The CW

Melrose Place – 9/8/09 – I have a feeling this will be high drama drivel filled with characters doing senseless things just because they want to and people will still watch it and declare it their favourite show (though not as good as the original). I’m hoping this show will fail, but I am pretty sure it will get a 2nd season. This show will not be canceled.

Vampire Diaries – 9/10/09 – There was a movie that came out recently, you may have heard of it. Twilight. Yeah, that one. It’s about a vampire who falls in love with a mortal (since when did we start calling humans mortals – or bloodbags for that matter???) and then has to fight other vampires to save said bloodbag mortal. Wait, am I talking about the movie or the tv show? Yeah, I don’t care either. However, Twilight made a shit ton of money and that practically guarantees that Vampire Diaries succeed. This show will not be canceled.

The Beautiful Life – 9/16 – A show about models. *sigh* Corbin Bleu is in this. You know, the cute kid from the High School Musical movies with the crazy awesome curly fro that the two little girls I baby-sit are in love with? Yeah, he’s in it. And some other people, trying to be tragic about being beautiful. Beauty if pain, blah blah blah. I have a feeling this show will not be canceled.

Of course, one of these shows has to go. Maybe I will re-analyze after I watch my 3 episodes.

Fox

Glee – 9/9 – I loved this premiere and can’t wait to see it again. The buzz about it is good, although two friends (thanks, B. and C. for your input!) think they got the singing team together too quickly and we all agree that his wife shouldn’t have been that much of a bitch. Other than that, good solid acting and a likeable lead has us anticipating this show’s season. This show will not be canceled.

Brothers – 9/25 – This is Fox’s attempt at a new comedy this season that is not a cartoon. Last year’s attempt was disastrous for all involved. Yikes, was it awful! (and if you remember that it was called Do Not Disturb, then you are disturbed. The only reason I remember it is because I wrote it down). Well, Brothers, don’t be another Do Not Disturb. I can’t imagine, with CCH Pounder, that it will be. Michael Strahan did not even seem to be straining too hard either. Fingers crossed for more black people on prime time television. This show will be canceled.

The Cleveland Show – 9/27 – I hate Family Guy. No. I don’t hate it. I just despise that it is so funny. I don’t have a real reason and giving Cleveland his own show makes me want to scratch my head. I really hate American Dad, but this is about the Cleveland Show. Obviously, I haven’t watched Family Guy enough to really understand why Cleveland gets his own show. Is he still with his cheating wife? *sigh* This show will not be canceled because of Family Guy. *sigh*

NBC

The Jay Leno Show – 9/14 – Although The Jay Leno Show took the place of 4-5 new one hour dramas or reality shows, I will judge it by the same harsh standards that I judge everything. I mean, I hate stuff that I think will stay on the air and stuff I want to get off the air will stay. It is certain. However I think the Jay Leno Show will be funny. Jay is pretty consistent and the move to primetime, while it saddens me, just makes him more accessible to others and will give NBC the much needed financial boost they seem to need. This show will not be canceled.

Community – 9/17 – Starring The Soup host Joel McHale, Community is about a lawyer who is disbarred and must graduate from college (community college, hence the title) to become a lawyer again. Also stars Chevy Chase and Ken Chong. What I saw was very funny. This show will not be canceled.

Mercy – 9/23 – Another nurse drama that is a season late and a dollar short. It has all the elements of a nurse drama, a tough as nails nurse that heads the whole show, a newbie nurse that wants to kill themselves or change the world with their sunshine and light, an ethnic nurse who is the embodiment of the black/gay neighbor, someone to add some *spice* to the mix, the handsome doctor who cares but not as much as the nurse and I’m pretty sure some manager that is usually caustic but shows a heart every now and then. Yeah, pretty standard. Also, considering Royal’s Pain’s penchant for being the McGyver of doctors, they added a little bit of that for the head nurse. This show may be canceled, but for the purpose of my count, This show will not be canceled.

Trauma – 9/26 – I have a friend that is an EMT. He wants to start being able to carry guns and break up street fights and arrest people. Yeah. Scary right? That’s how I feel Trauma is going to be. The concept seems sound, but based on the preview, it just doesn’t look like it’s going to cut it. This show will be canceled.

CBS

Accidentally on Purpose – 9/21 – Jenna Elfman made me laugh as Dharma in Dharma and Greg, but can she pull off this tv baby (that is the older woman with the younger man). This comedy does not scream funny to me, but then again, how many other comedies on CBS gets my “not funny” check mark? This show will be canceled.

NCIS:Los Angeles – 9/22 – Yeah, so O’Connell gets shot up at the end of the 2 part “premiere” during the regular NCIS and we have to wait a few NCIS episodes and the whole summer to find out what the heck happened to him? Yeah, I’m pretty hyped up for this show. Therefore, in all my bias, I’m going to say this show will not be canceled.

The Good Wife – 9/22 – A wife whose politician husband is disgraced goes back to work as a lawyer and must deal with having been in the public spotlight and using a skill she hasn’t used since she got married… lawyering. Anyway, it seems very dramatic and that guy from Gilmore Girls is in it and though I found him annoying, most people like him and we need something to fill the empty void that whatever that law show with William Shatner was called left, so I say this show will not be canceled. It actually looks good.

Medium – 9/25 – While not technically a new show, the move from NBC to CBS is something. Also, Medium will be playing with a show that I just can’t stand, The Ghost Whisperer, which means that those Friday night seance followers just might have another spooky show to add to their repertoire. I already liked Medium so this show will not be canceled.

Three Rivers – 10/4 – I miss Moonlight. Alex O’Loughlin stas in this drama about organ transplantation set in Pittsburgh that tells a story from three perspectives – the donor and the donor’s family, the recipient, and the surgical team of the hospital. Please, can their be a doctor that doesn’t care about shit? Can you also have someone who is an adrenaline junkie! Can we have a head of the hospital that impedes the doctors from doing their work? Can we also add a dash of the “second chances” moral every episode??? This show will be canceled. Too bad. I like looking at O’Loughlin.

ABC

The Forgotten – 9/22 – Christian Slater certainly is trying, isn’t he, to make a comeback. Jerry Bruckheimer has another show on television. I fell for the face/off ripoff that was My Own Worst Enemy and I think I’m going to do it again in this Cold Case-esque drama about people who find out the identity the Jane and John Does in homicides. This show will not be canceled. I believe in you Christian Slater!

Modern Family – 9/23 – 3 different types of family that make up one. Ed O’Neill and Jesse Tyler Ferguson (the one that goes crazy about the creampuff comment) let me know I’m going to be watching this until they cancel it. Which they won’t. So it has been said, so it shall be! This show will not be canceled.

Cougar Town – 9/23
-  What happens if you get divorced at 40 and look like Courteney Cox? You get some hot guy. But fortunately Courteney Cox is funny, although I’m not 100% sure of the concept. I will give this it’s 3 episodes, but I don’t think this show will make it. This show will be canceled.

Eastwick – 9/23
– I have a thing for witches. Not the Wiccan variety who are just plain people that are a little too close to nature, but the idea of a woman who has a familiar who cause things, good and bad, to happen to those around them. It’s a bit romantic, I guess, and something of a “living in the shadows” type thing, but I like it. However, this show is not gonna make it. It’s the Sex and the City, Candace Bushnell-esque story of women with supernatural powers. Unlike Sex and the City, it’s not going to succeed unless the concept has much changed from the pilot. This show will be canceled.

Flash Forward – 9/24 – People lose a few minutes of their lives… or do they? After they come back to the present world, they discover that they may have traveled forward in time. To what end? I dunno. I guess we gotta watch. Yet the previews for this didn’t seem half bad so, this show will not be canceled.

V – 11/3 - Very happy to see some 4400 people on this show. You know with a big ball of aliens appearing in the sky and all… In the preview where the reporter is about to interview the head alien in charge (it’s Inara!!!!!), the tension there is so palpable that I can’t wait to see how it is resolved and see when they first become the lizard like creatures we know they are (although we seem to be in love with lizards now, I’ve seen so many commercials with the reptile in them). This show will not be canceled.

Premieres Start Tonight Or Late Again to the Party

Posted on 08 September 2009 by thisgirltv

Well, I am not done with my Emmy posts and I certainly haven’t finished my Fall Premiere post. You know, the post where I tell you which shows I think will succeed based on their previews.

Yes, I judge books by their cover.

Well, tonight, we see two names that we have been expecting to see since 90210 moved back to primetime with a completely different cast. The 2nd season premiere of 90210 and the series premiere of Melrose Place all happen tonight on the CW starting at 8pm.

90210-cw90210 is a… wow… I just read the synopsis for last season and I have to say that if you want drama of the highschool kind, then you are in for a treat.

Melrose Place, the new kid on the block, will succeed because it is full of drama and excess. Female escorts that used to kill Terminators… manipulative older women with younger men… what more could you want? I didn’t watch the first Melrose Place and after I’ve finished my required 3 episode watch, I’m pretty sure I won’t watch the new one either. Whatever the case, Melrose Place will be renewed for next year, not because it’s good (it will probably be bad or somebody’s guilty pleasure), but it will succeed like the other shows of it’s ilk.
